Ticketmaster Offer Types

Also known as: Offer types, Ticket types, Standard, resale and platinum

Ticketmaster offer types are the different kinds of tickets on sale for one event — standard, Verified Resale, Official Platinum, VIP packages and others — each with its own quantity and price range.

Breaking stock down by offer type shows what's really on sale: an event can have thousands of tickets available that are almost all resale or platinum, with no standard tickets left at face value.

Average prices per type — standard vs resale vs platinum — show how much dynamic pricing and resellers are adding on top of face value.

The main Ticketmaster offer types

When an event loads on Ticketmaster, its inventory is split into offers. Names vary by country and event, but the main ones are:

  • Standard: tickets sold by the organiser at the set price — the closest thing to face value.
  • Resale: tickets resold by fans through Ticketmaster's own fan-to-fan resale system, branded Verified Resale in some markets; in some countries resale prices are capped at face value.
  • Official Platinum: organiser-owned tickets priced dynamically according to demand, often far above standard.
  • VIP and packages: tickets bundled with extras such as merchandise, early entry or hospitality.
  • Other offers: accessible seating, restricted view, promotional or member prices, which appear as separate offers with their own stock.

How stock and prices per offer type are calculated

For each offer type: quantity = tickets currently available under that offer; minimum price = the cheapest of those tickets; average price = sum of their prices ÷ quantity. The event total is the sum across types: total available = standard + resale + platinum + VIP + other.

The most useful derived figure is the share: standard share = standard quantity ÷ total available. It tells you how much of what's “available” is actually being sold by the organiser at its set price.

Worked example: 6,000 tickets left, 300 at face value

A stadium show shows 6,000 tickets available. Broken down: standard 300 (min £89, avg £105), resale 3,900 (min £140, avg £260), platinum 1,500 (min £250, avg £410) and VIP packages 300 (min £450, avg £600). Only 5% of the available tickets are standard. A fan wanting a face-value ticket has 300 to choose from, and the real get-in price for most buyers is the resale minimum of £140.

For a reseller, the gap between the standard average (£105) and the resale average (£260) is the market's current premium. The platinum average shows what the organiser itself thinks the best seats are worth.

Signals in the offer-type breakdown

Watch how the quantities and prices move over time:

  • Standard stock at zero while platinum remains: the organiser is keeping premium inventory to sell at demand-based prices; see platinum tickets and dynamic pricing.
  • Resale quantity growing fast: fans and brokers are listing, often after a weak on-sale or an extra date announcement.
  • Platinum prices dropping: demand at the top end is softer than the organiser expected.
  • New standard stock appearing: a face-value restock, usually the change most worth an alert.

Pitfalls with offer types

Offer names aren't consistent: the same type can be labelled differently in the US, the UK and Europe, and organisers can create custom offers for one event. Platinum seats are primary tickets, not resale, even though their prices often look like resale. Tickets can also move between types — an unsold platinum seat can be repriced or released as standard close to the event — so read quantities over time rather than as fixed buckets.

Frequently asked questions

What are Ticketmaster offer types?

They are the categories Ticketmaster splits an event's tickets into: standard tickets at the organiser's price, fan resale, Official Platinum, VIP packages and other offers such as accessible seating. Each has its own quantity and price range.

Are Official Platinum tickets resale tickets?

No. Platinum tickets are sold by the organiser through Ticketmaster on the primary market, with prices that move with demand. They often cost as much as resale tickets, but the money goes to the organiser and artist, not to a reseller.

Why does Ticketmaster show tickets available when the event looks sold out?

Because the remaining inventory is often resale, platinum or VIP rather than standard tickets. An event can have thousands of tickets available and none at face value. Breaking stock down by offer type shows what's really left.

Where can I see Ticketmaster stock by offer type?

Eventory's Ticketmaster tab lists every offer type for an event — standard, resale, platinum and others — with quantity, minimum price and average price, and the Chrome extension shows live standard and resale stock on the Ticketmaster page itself.
