VIP Package
Also known as: VIP tickets, Hospitality package
A VIP package is a premium ticket bundled with extras — early entry, exclusive merchandise, a lounge, a soundcheck or a meet and greet — sold at a higher price than standard tickets.
Packages are often sold through the artist's official VIP partner rather than the main ticketing site, with their own presale and purchase limit. Some extras are tied to the buyer's name, which limits resale.
They sit at the top of the price range alongside platinum tickets, and their resale value depends on what is actually included.
What VIP packages usually include
Packages vary a lot between tours and events, but most combine a ticket with a selection of extras:
- A premium ticket: often floor, pit or a top-price seated section.
- Early entry: access to the venue or the GA area before the general doors open.
- Exclusive merchandise: items only available to package holders, sometimes posted before the event.
- Hospitality: a lounge, bar or catering area, common in sport and festival packages.
- Experiences: soundcheck access, a Q&A, a photo opportunity or a meet and greet with the artist.
How VIP packages are sold
Artist VIP packages are frequently sold by a specialist partner on behalf of the tour, either on its own site or as a separate ticket type on the main ticketing site. They usually have their own on-sale or presale, their own purchase limit and their own terms. Sport and festival hospitality is often sold directly by the venue, club or organiser.
Because a package includes products and experiences, its price isn't comparable to a standard face value ticket, and rules written for ticket resale may not apply to the package in the same way.
VIP package vs platinum tickets
Both sit at the top of the price range, for different reasons. Platinum tickets are ordinary seats sold at a demand-based price, so the money buys the location. A VIP package buys a defined set of extras, often with a ticket that is not much better than a standard one.
On resale, a platinum ticket is priced like any other seat in its section, while a package is priced on what is included and whether those extras can be passed on.
Example: what a VIP package is worth on resale
A tour sells a VIP package at $450: a floor ticket, early entry, a merchandise bundle and a group photo. Standard floor tickets cost $150 and trade at $260 on resale. The package's ticket can be transferred, but the photo is tied to the buyer's name and the merchandise has already been posted to them. What a reseller can actually deliver is a floor ticket with early entry — worth a little more than a standard floor ticket, and far less than $450.
Checking a VIP package before buying to resell
The resale value of a package depends on the small print more than on the headline price:
- Read what is transferable: tickets often are, while meet and greets and named extras often aren't.
- Check how the ticket is delivered: some packages use a separate ticket or a wristband collected on the day.
- Compare with resale prices for the same floor or premium section, not with the package price.
- Watch package availability: packages still unsold close to the date can signal weaker demand at the top of the market.

Frequently asked questions
Are VIP packages worth the money?
It depends on what is included and how much the extras matter to you. Compare the package price with the resale price of a similar ticket; the difference is what you are paying for early entry, merchandise and experiences.
Can VIP packages be resold?
Often only in part. The ticket can usually be transferred, but meet and greets, photos and named extras are frequently tied to the original buyer, and some packages forbid resale entirely. Check the package terms first.
What is the difference between VIP and platinum tickets?
Platinum tickets are ordinary seats sold at a demand-based price, with no extras. VIP packages bundle a ticket with extras such as early entry, merchandise or a meet and greet, at a fixed package price.
Who sells official VIP packages?
Usually the artist's official VIP partner, or the main ticketing site on behalf of the tour. The artist's official website normally links to the authorised seller; unofficial packages may not include what they promise.
