# Add a monitor to an event

> To monitor an event, open the Watchlist and click Add Monitor. Choose the ticketing site and the event region, paste the event URL from that site, then on the second step choose the monitoring method and the filters that decide which changes are worth an alert. Press Add event and the monitor starts immediately: Eventory checks the event continuously and notifies you when tickets restock or stock drops, within the filters you set.

Page: https://eventory.ai/docs/guides/add-a-monitor. Category: Monitors.

## Before you start

- An active Monitors subscription on your workspace. Adding items is blocked while a payment is past due.
- The event URL from the ticketing site you want to watch, or its event id on the sites that need one.
- Room under your plan's event limit. The Watchlist tells you when you have reached it.

## Steps

### 1. Open Add Monitor on the Watchlist

Go to [/monitor](https://eventory.ai/monitor) and click Add Monitor, in the sidebar or at the top of the table. On an empty Watchlist the same button sits in the middle of the page. The drawer is titled Add event.

At the top, Monitor type is a pair of options, External data and Eventory data, which decide what the monitor watches. External data is the normal choice: it watches a ticketing site. Eventory data turns the drawer into Add tracker, which watches Eventory's own numbers for an event or an artist and needs Market Intelligence.

- External data: watch a ticketing site for restocks and stock drops, within the prices you choose.
- Eventory data: watch a metric on an event or artist. Covered in [Create a Tracker](https://eventory.ai/docs/guides/create-a-tracker).

*The Add event drawer: Monitor type, the Event field for ids or URLs, the Website chips and the Event region chips, then Continue.*

### 2. Choose the website and the event region

Website is a row of chips: Ticketmaster, AXS, Eventim, UEFA Tickets, Ticketek, See Tickets, DICE, Viagogo, StubHub, Vividseats, Seatgeek, Tickpick, Fansale, and Other websites for the rest. Only the sites your workspace can use are offered, and the filters on the next step change with the site: not every site exposes sections, rows or prices.

Event region is a second row of chips, USA, United Kingdom, Germany and so on, with Other regions for the long tail. The same ticketing brand runs dozens of national shops and an event exists on exactly one of them, so a monitor on the wrong region will never see your event. If you paste a URL first, both are usually picked for you.

**Note:** If Continue does nothing and no error is visible, it is almost always the ticket types: some sites require at least one ticket type, and the field is only shown further down the form. Scroll the step and check every field before trying again.

### 3. Paste the event URL

Put the event link in the Event field. Its placeholder shows both accepted shapes, an event id and a full URL, and the hint under it says Press Enter or comma to add multiple IDs/URLs: paste several and you get one monitor per event. Eventory detects the site from the URL, so pasting first and checking the chips afterwards is the faster order.

A few sites do not have a stable event URL and are identified by an event id instead. The [supported sites list](https://eventory.ai/ticket-monitor) has a page per site with the exact format.

- Event: the event page link or id, copied from the ticketing site.
- Several ids or URLs, separated by Enter or a comma, one monitor each.
- Artist or venue links create a discovery monitor instead; see the section below.

### 4. Set the filters on step 2

Press Continue. The next step is the filter set: the rules that decide which change is worth an alert. The Monitoring method at the top is the most important field, because it decides what you are waiting for and which other fields apply.

Everything else narrows the alert down. An empty field does not filter: leave the whole step untouched and you get every change the site exposes, which is the right starting point. [Filter a monitor by section, row and price](https://eventory.ai/docs/guides/filter-monitor-by-section-and-price) covers each field in detail.

- Monitoring method: Restock or Stock decrease, where the site reports both.
- Section and Rows: where in the venue, with the venue map beside them on the sites that have one.
- Min price and Max price: the price band worth an alert.
- Seats: how many seats have to be available together.
- Ticket types: which kinds of listing count, and which to skip.

### 5. Choose the delivery and add notes

Delivery routes this monitor's alerts. Left alone it uses your workspace default, so you only need to touch it when this event should go somewhere else, such as a channel for one client. Roles pings specific Discord roles with the alert.

Internal notes is free text on the row, visible only inside your workspace. It is the right place for why the monitor exists, which is what you will want to know in three months when you are pruning the Watchlist.

### 6. Save the monitor

Press Add event. The drawer closes, the row appears at the top of the Watchlist and monitoring starts right away. There is no activation step and no delay you need to wait out.

If you hit your plan limit the save is refused with a dialog rather than a silent failure, and you can add extra events or free up a row by deleting one you no longer need.

## Quick add: paste links, skip the drawer

The box at the top of the Watchlist, Quick add: paste artist, venue or event links, is the fast path. Paste one or more links and press Add; each becomes a monitor with your default filters, without opening the drawer at all.

Edit default filters, beside it, sets the filters every quick-added monitor starts with, so the box can be as careful as the drawer once you have tuned it. Use the drawer when one event needs its own rules; use quick add for the ten links a colleague just sent you.

## Discovery monitors: watch an artist or a venue

Instead of one event, a monitor can watch an artist or a venue page and add the events it finds. Paste the artist or venue URL into Artist/Venue URL and switch on Auto-add discovered events to watchlist, and new events appear as their own monitors as they go on sale.

This is how you cover a tour that has not been announced yet. It also consumes plan events as it discovers them, so it is worth pairing with filters that keep the alerts narrow.

## Monitoring the event you are already looking at

Every Eventory event page has a button that opens the same Add Monitor drawer with the event filled in, which saves copying URLs between tabs. The charts on the event page have the same shortcut, so you can go from a price move you just noticed to a monitor on it.

The [Chrome extension](https://eventory.ai/extension) closes the loop from the other side: while you are on the ticketing site it shows live availability and lets you start monitoring the event from the page itself.

## What happens after you save

The monitor is checked continuously, and every match becomes a notification with the section, the quantity and the price, plus a link to the listing. The same notification goes to your delivery channel, the [Notifications](https://eventory.ai/notifications) page and the desktop app.

Nothing about the monitor is frozen: the filters, the method and the delivery can all be edited later from the row, and the change applies to the next check. Editing is the normal way to work, because the right filter for an event is rarely obvious before you have seen its alerts.

## Frequently asked questions

### How fast is the first check?

Monitoring starts as soon as the row is saved. How quickly you hear anything depends on the event: a volatile event can ping within seconds, and a quiet one can be silent for days.

### Can I monitor the same event on two sites?

Yes, and you should when the event is listed on both. Each monitor watches one site, so an event on two sites is two rows, each with its own filters and delivery.

### Can I watch the same event with two different sets of filters?

Yes. Add a second filter set to the same monitor instead of a second row; they are grouped as one expandable row in the Watchlist. See [Run several filter sets on one event](https://eventory.ai/docs/guides/filter-sets).

### Why is a site missing from the Website list?

Either Eventory does not monitor it, or it is reserved for a specific workspace. The public list is at [supported ticketing sites](https://eventory.ai/ticket-monitor).

### Does a monitor expire after the event?

It stops producing alerts once the event is over, but the row stays until you delete it. Filtering the Watchlist by Event date is the quickest way to clear out the past.
